5X France’s most beautiful beaches

From Bretagne and Biarritz to the splendid Côte d’Azur on the Mediterranean shores: France has a spectacular coast line. And let’s not forget the island of Corsica, either! Tailor-made for your next vacation.

These days, we all seem to head straight for Ibiza, Bali, and far beyond. It can’t be remote and exotic enough! But good ol’ “douce France” continues to be a wonderful travel destination, too. And it’s easily reached even by car or train from most parts of Europe.

1. Biarritz

La Grand Plage, Côte des Basques, Plage d’Hendaye… One by one gemstones along the Atlantic coast. The sand is a golden shade of yellow, the palm trees swerve gently in the wind, and the waves are popular among surfing aficionados. Impressive rock formations are the backdrop to your fish soup or other fruits de mer.

2. Corsica

The island of Corsica has a whole array of beautiful beaches that can hold their own compared to Southeast-Asia’s “bounty shores”. Plage de Palombaggia near Porto Vecchio, Plage de Rondinara, Plage Petit Sperone, Seleccia, Roccapina, Plage Santa Giulia or the tiny beach south of Bonifacio: it’s a luxury problem to find the perfect beach here!

3. Nice

When in Nice, make sure to pay a visit to their Paloma Plage. It’s still an exclusive place, with a part only open to the rich and famous, but fortunately there’s another section that’s accessible to all. So don’t worry about having the paparazzi mistake you for a celebrity here! Make sure to bring your flip-flops, because Paloma is partly a pebblestone beach.

4. Bretagne

Not as warm as the other destinations on this list, but the beaches of Bretagne have their own particular kind of beauty. Plage du Sillon is like a painting, and equally breathtaking is the beach of Nicolas, one of the islands in the Glènan archipelago. Sublime sunsets guaranteed, because this coast is facing west!

5. Saint Tropez

Last but not least: Saint Tropez. How could we forget about that classic French beach? Plage de Pampelonne is the Côte d’Azur’s most well-known beach. Beautiful place to watch the Mediterranean ánd sunbathing celebs. Are you okay with a little less glamour? Head over to Calanque d’en Vau, near Marseille and Cassis, which is a collection of fjord-like bays of crystal clear water. A terrific place to go [snorkelen] as majestic cliffs rise up all around you!
